On windows or Linux hosting... well, doesn't make much difference if it runs ok imo, but personally I prefer Linux hosting (what a surprise huh? )

I use Go Daddy for the church site and have been well pleased. I bought 3 domain names (.com, .net, .org) and the hosting for a year and it was @ $70.00 for the package (domains and hosting). I use Front Page 2003 to build the site in that I know zip about html or coding. There are many good hosting services and about as many prices. Go Daddy has many options for the hosting and in dealing with the customer service folks, they were great. Walked me through the whole process step by step varifying that I understood and had all the passwords and methods needed. It was a good experience...talker.

I am also thinking of buying a domain just to play around and learn this sort of stuff. Although I learn a lot of this at school, most of this is better learned when you do it yourself.

I'm a co-owner to a small hosting company based in Cleveland and Vancouver. We offer packages ranging from $0.99 to $24.99 per month with the best internet support you can get. We'll help set up your site and get you running with ease and explain how to use the software that comes with each package. If you order a package that is $9.99 and up you get a free domain name as well.
Check us out and let me know (by e-mail, IM, PM, etc.) if you'd like to find out more

LOL, I plan to take awhile and make mine really good!! At least I hope so!! And I think one of my sites will be a family site, and maybe another for consulting work that I do.
