my old 8800gt is acting up. it is super hot now all the time, and after trading places with another pci-e card, upon reboot, i had no video signal (took two more reboots to get it back. i was looking around newegg for dual slotted exaust hot air out back models/ bargains, and found this and this. the ati looks killer for the price, but i'm not sure re excess heat and all. anybody have any suggestions? i don't game...

edit: this looks neat too...?

I have a HIS 4870 w/1gb and love it. However, most of my usage with it is gaming.....

I have no problems with anything else tho? The one you linked is 70 dollars less than the HIS I have...for some reason.

thanks guys. this is also a contender. hey enip, i remember when you got yours. have you tried it under win7? storm? it sure looks killer, don't it? do you know the gpu die size? i really want to keep heat down, and that big fan looks like a winner.

Well, I only tried out one of the earliest 7 betas and I couldn't even tell you if I installed drivers for it. However, I remember it looking good...lol

that could be a deal breaker (win7 issues). i'm stumped, but would love an ati card...
edit: you mean the issue is not to install the winders update for it? or...?

Every time I've decided to jump off the ATI bandwagon and give NVidia graphics cards a try I have regretted it. I've just never had good luck with them. On the other hand, I've had several mainboards with NVidia chipsets and never had a problem with them

On the other hand, I've only had one ATI card fail and it was under warranty and I RMA'd it without any problems.

Maybe NVidia graphics cards just doesn't like me.

Just my 2cents, MO.

On edit: the Sapphire card looks like a good deal...

I have an nVidia 8600 card that works great for me. I do moderate gaming (L4D, Crisis, Portal) but I don't do them in the hi-res settings. Let us know how it works out M.o.
