Good to see you guys are still believing. I know that at 7:00 tomorrow, a lot of Wings fans will be pulling for the Habs. I'll be one of 'em!

With the Wings-Avs, a lot of people think the wind left the rivalry's sails after Claude was gone. But running Roy from the net in the final game of the 01/02 series and subsequently winning the cup, I think, is what kinda bookmarked the end. But true hatred never really goes away. :graduated:

The Sharks won tonight but I think they'll get closed out in game 6. Nothing in me sees the Rangers coming back. God, if the Eastern Finals are an "all Pennsylvania" affair I don't think I'll even watch it.

(ok, that's a lie. :) I'll still watch but, dammit, I won't be happy about it.) Good luck!
I'm working until 9pm tonight so I'll miss most of the game (again). :) But I will try to do something, perhaps have my mp3 player with the volume to the max on the counter or something. (There's a radio in the store but we're not allowed to change the channel.) Otherwise I'll keep asking the customers for the score :scara: During that time all of my friends will be watching the game in a bar, drinking good beer... :)

The Rangers are dead already, if we lose to Philadelphia I don't see how Pittsburgh couldn't get to the Cup finals...

Well, it was a great game and great season for the Habs. Sorry about the loss bro. It was really cool to hear the crowd chanting like that in appreciation at the end though. They'll be back next year.

Very strange game though---out of 6 goals against, I think only 1 was really Price's fault. His stone on Briere's breakaway was unreal as was their play on the 5-3/5-4. Very "flukie", for lack of a better word.

I just caught the 3rd period of the Wings/Stars game, right when Zetterberg scored his goal in PK.

I only have onething to say: they are strong. This was only one period but if they continue to play like this they have a pretty good chance of touching the cup! Stars are already dead and Pittsbugh is on its way to win in 4 games too. I hope we get an entertaining Detroit-Pittsburgh finale. :P

Yeah, even I'm kinda surprised at how well they're playing right now. It's on the verge of blasphemy to say this but this team might be better than the Wings of the late nineties. Datsyuk is playing out of his mind and Ozzie is playing like a brick wall. Pittsburgh might be in trouble if this keeps up.

Poor Turco. He's getting shelled. :P

What? You mean better than Shanahan, Fedorov and the bunch? No way!

Well, maybe yes way... :P If they win the cup (considering they'll play against the Pinguins in the final) I would say it could be a very accurate comparison.

:roadrunner: What do Sid the Kid, Evgeny Malkin, Marc-Andre Fleury, and Monica Lewinsky have in common? :moreilly:

:D Nevermind, I can't post the punch line without breaking site rules.

I don't understand why Bettman doesn't just give the Cup to the Wings right now. I know he's ready to swallow a bottle full of sleeping pills knowing that his little saviour, Crosby, like Lindros a decade ago, is about to get swept by the Wings. All those marketing deals! Out the window!

Crosby is Doug Weight without the heart. Miroslav Satan with a more marketable name. Pavel Bure without the toughness. Roenick without the murder conviction. (Ok, that last one is made up but, seriously, Jeremy ended more careers than NAFTA.)

Zetterberg and Datsyuk may not roll off the tongue like Gretzky and Messier, but they're playing like one of the best lines in Cup finals history. Hockeytown is dead. Long live Hockeytown!

PM it to me :moreilly: lol I think I might know the answer already.

Well, I didn't see the games but it sure looks bad for the Pinguins. The Wings really are a very strong team and Sid the Kid does look like a little kid against those scorers...

I don't think anyone, including us homers that are less than objective, thought it would be this easy for the Octopi. Even Cherry predicted a 7 game, white-knuckled, long series. And the Don knows more about hockey than God himself. But in game 2 the Penguins didn't have a shot on goal at even strength until the 5th minute of the 2nd period! What the hell is that?!? :snoozer_likelinux_man: I don't think that's ever happened in Finals history....

It seems like Pittsburgh is just too inexperienced and too young. They get bit first, they wilt. Shows to go ya that having 2 of the games brightest forwards means nothing without the backbone of a checking line that can push and 3 pairs of defenders that trust each other. As much as it'd be cool to see another sweep, it'd be entertaining, at least, to see some tough games.

BTW, did you see Val Filppula's goal in the last game? All of a sudden, he thinks he's Bobby Orr.

:snoozer_likelinux_man:

It will be a good lesson for Pittsburgh's youngsters, don't mess with the veterans who know how to play real hockey!

The Igloos showed real heart in every game from 3 on. Fleury deserves much respect. It's been a good season.

Let's hope the Wings and Habs meet up next year! It very well could happen.

What a great post-season so far. Every series and every game has been fantastic sport. Other than the Boston-Carolina series, it's hard to tell right now which teams will be in the Conf. finals. Still, have to take my Wings against Chicago in the West and Carolina-Pittsburgh in the East. Ward vs. Crosby is always a good time and Detroit vs. Chicago would be a cool Original 6 matchup.

edit: Chicago clinched! hopefully the wings win tonight.

With full apologies that this thread seems to be a banj0 and Hog playground......

Hog!!?!! les Habs win 3 straight against the Caps?!? Halak was off the...

Standing on his hea....

2 Goals in a billion shots...

The Caps were up 3 games to 1 and the Canadiens came back to win the ser.....

What in the crazy? Montreal has to be partying like it's 1999!

Shows to go ya, Hockey is the one sport where a positional player (Halak, goaler) can change the series. Ovechkin was great, Halak was better.

Congrats, Montreal Canadiens! Well done!

Oh man, that was just crazy, it's still hard to believe it actually happened!

Back in 2004 or 2005, can't remember, we came back from 1-3 to win the series against the Bruins, a first in the history of the Canadiens. There even was a riot in Montreal following the win lol... But now, against the Capitals and Ovechkin, the best team in the NHL!? I guess Bruce Boudreau was right when he said before game 6 that his players didn't have the instinct of the killer to win the series!

I'm afraid it may be harder against Crosby and his Penguins, though... But a Montreal-Detroit final is still possible!! :jerry:

And yeah, Halak was just crazy... 53 saves in one playoff game, that's third place in history behind Roy and (I think) Dryden! Now what shall we do with Carey Price? lol...

edit: Did I say it was crazy!? :giggle:
