it's either this, or an areca 1210 (yes, another one, strom...) w/two 150 gb raptors. i know, the areca and the raptor's cache are quick, and the ssd is overpriced (atm), but i guesss i just gotta wild hair...

You know the 1TB Hitachi with 32MB cache has been found to be faster than the 150GB Raptor, and last of 07 a new firmware was released that bumped it even further.
