Microsoft today talked to Bit-Tech in a bid to reassure the enthusiast community about the licensing terms of Windows Vista.
We previously read that Vista could prove to be a nightmare for enthusiasts who upgrade often, with only one transfer to a new machine allowed and with the license tied to a particular system configuration in a way that was far more limiting than Windows XP.
A Microsoft spokesman from the Licensing Dept told bit-tech that this would not be the case. He told us that Windows Vista will not require a system re-activation unless the hard drive and one other component is changed. This means that enthusiasts will be able to swap CPUs, memory and graphics cards out without any worry about having to re-activate with MS, either on the internet or by phone.

It's still a load of ****... I want a fix to this in less than 24 hours... Come of us need about 25 freakin re-installs and activations... As a matter of fact, with one buy... I have all 10 of my activations already used up... ON MY MACHINES, that's no including my brothers, my sisters, or my mom's... honestly... putting a cap on the "re-activations" is really starting to chap my ass.
M$ you ******* tyrant... get off your high horse before I say screw you and go for an Apple... and I hate Mac.

nothign wrong wiht apple hardware... or the OSX 10.5.0 ..not to say with the new intell core duo 2 and boot camp u get the best of both worlds

This, if true, is good news and I hope it pans out. However, my wonderings are the "Microsoft spokesman". Without a specific person, we really can't be sure if this "spokesman" has the knowledge and the authority to make such a statement. Sorry for the downside to this but to most of you that know me, I am the eternal cynic and seldom takes things on mere face value and/or statement. Unfortunately, the only real way to prove this is: 1.) Buy a copy of Vista and see how many times it wll or will not need activation. 2.) See this in writing from a named source from Microsoft. I sincerely hope this is true but it could be a VERY expensive lesson if not and Microsoft will have sold another copy of Vista to the hapless enthusiast who is grumbling under his breath as he reinstalls XP because Vista won't re-activate...talker.

Mayeb not for you... I for one hate the OSX OS and can't stand the way it works... but yes you are correct there is nothing wrong with the Hardware... I just don't like them, I like the customizability with my computer.. and I haven't used a Mac in a year or so so I dunno how htat's changed on the apple side, but I've jsut never been a fan. Like some ppl love AMD and dispise Intel, Like some people love Linux and dispise Winsows... I dispise Apple. Nothing personal, it's just time has changed me... my first computer as a mater of fact was an apple... I just changed. but this kinda thing is enough to piss me off to the point that I don't want to use the money hungry man's software anymore.

but I do have a hackintosh my AMD has OSX 10.4.8 beside xp on it..... its just don;t feel real when u not useing a real deal apple....
but I be a sucker and buy Vista Ulmite edition. hell I own ever other MS Windows and Other Prgrams such as streets and ttps.. office. tehre games.. and enythign eles that u coudl think of that mS relased..... and ever vereion of it to >>
