I have tried many linux distros before. Most of them have been Debian based (since I prefer them, can not live without apt-get); however I never ever thought of trying pure debian. So today I took the plundge and decided to do a network install. Download small iso file and rest install over the net. So far, I am waiting for it to update its self.

First impressions (what have I gotten myself into it looks so complicated)

More coming

Ok lets see, first off everything is so out dated. However I must blame myself for that. I discovered that there are mainly 2 branches of Debian software. Stable and Testing. I installed stable which is seriously out dated. At the moment upgrading my system to Debian "Lenny" so hopefully everything will be more recent.

Btw etch defaut Gnome install is 2.14.3, geez can't wait for Lenny (Debian testing) to be installed and with that Gnome 2.20 (more coming soon)

PS; my mp3's worked right after install of Etch

Ah, sorry for this most disapointing post. But I am afriad I could not handle Debian, stable yes, reliable yes, fast yes, user friendly no. Now I do not want a distro that is over the top easy but neither one that takes all my time. I therefore removed it from my system

if you check out distrowatch often, there always seems to be something new coming down the pike
