Cardinals vs Tigers

Suppan will lose big tomorrow and then everything depends on Verlander and Reyes. I'm not trying to count my redbirds before they hatch, but JSoup is Jason Johnson without the insulin.
Nevertheless, if the Cardinals win tomorrow, the Series is over and done. If the Tigers win, it's in the air. To be fair, I am really pulling for the Tigers for reasons outlined; but knowing that the greatest hitter of all time, Pujols, gets a ring----well, that will be pretty cool too. I'd be remiss if I didn't comment on the Kenny Rogers' "smudgegate" thing though. Brew, you know I'm a frickin' baseball purist, yes? I put the game itself above all teams. Objectively, that whole thing was much-a-do about nothing.
Even if it was Pine Tar (and I don't believe it was), pine tar has 0 effect on the flight of the ball. For a pitcher, the only benefit would be the grip. But, even if I accepted the premise that Pine Tar DOES change the flight of the ball, and if I accepted the premise that Rogers WAS using Pine Tar-----I would be hard-pressed to understand why he was just as dominant from innings 2 through 8 as he was in the 1st. If the crap on his hand WAS pine tar in the first inning, why was he just as dominant after he washed it off?
Either way, it'd still be cool to see APole, (my new nickname for Pjols) get a championship. lol imho, Albert Pujols is the Babe blasting against fair competition, Greenberg homering against spitballs, Josh Gibson sending Koufax 700ft, Ozzie Smith beating Tron in 5 minutes.
Novels have been written for Gehrig, statues have been built for the Babe, cryogenics took off cuz of Williams......imho, Albert Pujols, already, is the greatest baseball player of all time. Seriously. As a diehard Cub fan, it pains me to realize that our 'arch'-rival (get it? lol, um) is home to the greatest player evAr. But it's true. Mr. Albert Pujols is to baseball as Hendrix is to lead guitar. Nothing will ever be the same.
In a way, I'm just happy to know that I get to watch him. The feeling isn't pride exactly, as I've never met the man. But the joy I get from watching Pujols hit a baseball is undeniable. My best guess is that it's a biological pride from seeing a human come so close to perfection as to send our brains reeling.
Very few things in life are perfect, just dead-on frickin' bullseye---- 4 of them are BB King, morning sex, Smallmouth Bass, and Albert Pujols. If the Cards win, I'll be happy for Albert and Braden.
Until next year, mothereffer.

I don't know about the whole smudgegate thing. He still had it on his hands after he washed them and it does make a difference. But I blame LaRussa as much as Rogers for not making a bigger deal out of it. Oh well, I don't think it'll make a bit of difference in the long run.
In all honesty, I hope the Cubs do make to the postseason sometime during my lifetime. I find great joy in rooting against them.

I can offer the cliff's-notes version: blah, blah, Pine tar, blah, blah, ('nuther cocktail), blah, blah, Pujols, blah, (gulp), blah, blah, (feckin' 'ell, i'm buzzed), blah, blah, Submit.

Piniella, at least, won't ruin our young talent. He'll just make them quit to go work at Sears.
Oh, and I almost forgot...

My girlfriend's dad is the shiznit.
Got 20th row behind the Kitten's dugout. 63 degrees farenheit while the Tiggers beat that podunk team from Mizoo so bad that Braden Looper started crying. Honestly. I have a phone cam vid of Looper crying. In the bottom of the 5th, Placido Palanco batted 3 times.
14-4, the Toledo Mud Hens' major league affiliate beat the crap out of the fascist Cards. And, for the first time in my life----I saw a Pujols home run. omgwtf, roflcopter. That dude is sick. Too bad he plays for a team that just lost 14-4.
And the Cubs beat the SouSox.
Great day.

Pretty cool you got to see it though. I'm glad you got to see Pujols go 4 for 4. Too bad every Tiger did too. There's no doubt in my mind Detroit has been waiting for this series since November. We'll see what happens today.
Still two more games in the series.

Still, that 5th inning was so much fun. Poor LaRussa looked like he needed a drink.

On the flip-side, Andrew Miller seems to be worthy of the hype. That kid throws pills.
