I kinda up-g'd my junk with a MSI 890FXA-GD70) mobo (awesome) w/usb 3, sata III,got a Hexacore 1090t @ 3.94 GHZ, 8 GB OCZ XTC 1600 @ 1640MHZ,LG BluRay burner. Gettin 70+ on the intel burnin test highest cpu temp 48c. It runs pretty snappy...

OC update....now running solid at 4.0 GHz, ram @ 1666...7-7-7-24........Intel score 71+........HDD read ,buffered 1.31GB/sec, access time 26ms....CPU temp (loaded, 6 threads) 44c.......

Well, almost a year later I thought I'd run CrystalDiskMark again to see how my SSDs are holding up. I have yet to upgrade the firmware, run TRIM or garbage collection etc etc.

Here's how the numbers stack up: (The new scores are on the left, old ones on the right)



Strange. The most obvious thing to me is the Seq and 512k write speeds going down. Also, the Seq read went up? Regardless, I haven't noticed any kind of slow down whatsoever. What do you guys think? To my knowledge there is still no TRIM support on RAID arrays. Also, the Samsung SSD Magician software won't even read my SSDs as SSDs because they're in RAID.

You guys think I should fool with it? Should I wipe them, upgrade the firmware, and redo it or just let it go for now? Thoughts? Thanks.

hey enip, if they run great as is, i'd leave them be, though a secure erase on them and a fresh install is always pretty perky
have you tried the new storage bench, anvils storage utilities?

great ssd bench, a bit easier on the drives than cdm and as ssd

my next computer is going to be an Asus Transformer tablet. So, I will not build it. At all

but hey for $400 I could build a budget fusion pc. (tablet is also $400 without dock)
