because my pump died, and looks like it took out an optie...not worth it, as the temps on air are so close. no fuss, no muss, just wires and fans :giggle:

You are no longer hardcore man. Just wait, you'll be back!! I give ya 6 months. You just can't be happy with what you have for long. :friends:

i dunno. some of these heat pipe towers work great without fans, so i might just go that route. i'm real tired of spending $$$ atm though.

:friends: well I'm just doin it outta boredom ,very few of us do any desktop computing that even use a decent dual core up, I still detest Intel don't give a tinkers damn if your new kentsfield gets 900 more 3D 06 marks than me frankly who gives a piss :giggle:

Hey Mo, not that i wouldn't like dual quads myself... but what the heck are you doing to need that kind of processing power. As a folder, I know I'd use all 8 cores. When it comes to folding, you've barely stuck a toe in the water. Inquiring minds and all???? I tend to agree that a TRUE on air tends to equal average water cooling. Rather than abandon water cooling, I'll be using a Thermochill PA120.2 and a Swiftech MCR 220 to bring temps down on a single Q6600 G0 clocked to 3.6. If that doesn't work, I may revert to air also. :friends: Good luck with the build. It sounds like fun!!!! :giggle:
