after fedora found my scsi raid volume, it gave the options for partitions, etc. a few "nexts" and i arrive at an attractive desktop, in full 1920x1200 res. it had a driver for the 7900gtx right off the bat!, audio drivers installed, along with network, without fanfair. this is also the first distro of linux that i ws able to set up my pop account without resorting to screaming and the nashing of teeth. i haven't tried playing any cds, etc. yet, so expect an update and (many?) questions soon

just installed skype for linux. it went on so easily (i was expecting an hour of typing obscure strings of characters), i had to double check that it infact had been installed very different (this distro) from others i have tried.

Try this after you get the driver installed. (Found at FedoraForum.org):
1. Install Nvidia driver 2. Get Xorg.conf ready: gconftool-2 -s '/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager' --type bool true Add the following in /etc/X11/xorg.conf: Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" EndSection In the "Device" section, add: Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True" In the "Module" section, add: Load "extmod" 3. Logout, login again and type: desktop-effects Enable the effects.

so, does anybody know how to do it, or are these guesses? the instructions from nvidia make no sense what so ever, as their "installer" does not run, as they allude to...
