ok, i know haswell is up sometimeQ2, followed by ib E...but...i'm tired of socket 2011 lol. thinking of getting an i7 3770k, putting it under water, using the asus maximus v gene, 2600+ ram, and...crossfire? for some reason, even though i'm oc'ed, those guys with z77 boards are getting taller storage bench numbers ( the ones that know what they are doing), and storage benching is my one true weakness arg...ivy now, or wait for haswell gen 1?

intel or amd? i know strom is an amd fan, and has been keeping up with the latest from them, and we have a bunch of intel users 'on board'

xeon E3-1230 V2 (ivy bridge). basically an HT 3770 for the price of a non HT 3750, for cpu.
asus maximus V gene. super 'little board that could' OC' monster, but used in a non OC setting. last forever.
32 gigs cas9/10 from your fave mem company.
amd/ati gpu like what strom has atm. perfect, no crippled compute cores
your ssd attached to the first sataIII intel port, installed raid mode, final rst driver 11.2 (trust me).
high capacity spinner on the second.

Disagree with 32Gb RAM, utter waste of money, 16Gb is all you will ever need, even with heavy video/graphic use, save your cash
Nvidia all the way GPU wise, but I'd wait till new cards surface soon
Agree with a nice fast SSD, although the 11.7 rst drivers are the bomb (I even have these hard modded in BIOS)
Windows 8, once you get it tweaked, its damn fast, ignoring all the useless ****

the 11.17 rst are the most awful drivers evar invented!!! OMG!!! unless you are using win8...then you are locked into the 11.7...OMG!!!
ati/amd gpu FTW!!! ati doesn't gut the compute cores! new drivers are total awesome sauce!
32gigs of 1600 cas7? did someone say ginormous ram drive(s) for photochop? though 16 is a sweet spot, and easier on the pocketbook
win8...yes, with the win7 explorer. for me, benching with win8 is like passing gas in a tiny elevator full of beautiful women...why?

not really trouble, but the 4k writes go away real fast, so storage numbers go way down. it just seems that as we go forward, some things go backward. it will be a sad day indeed when all we have are ipads that we rent...

while waiting for haswell, i decided to change my water cooling setup. i ordered one of those phoyba xtreme nova rads, some 180mm fans and the 4x180mm adapter plate. i'm going to shoehorn my present system into an matx lian li case, with the big rad attached on the non motherboard exterior panel, outside the box, taking up one entire side of the case...

since i'll be going at an easy pace on this (have to have the rad to do penetration placement, fittings, etc., which ordered from usa distributor will take twice as long to be delivered compared to aquatuning from germany!), i'll put up some pics

4x silverstone ap-181 are inbound...180mm are the new 120mm...
