I dont know why everyone is so stuck on ubuntu... honestly.. open suse is waaaaaay better.

I just finished downloading open Suse 10.2 x64. I like it better also it is my favorite distro except that it does not include automatic updates. Or does it? Beside that viper started us all out on Ubuntu, so its his fault!

I'm downloading Suse 10.2 x64 right now... its a quite big iso, 3.7 GB... It will be in my rig #2 soon.

In a Suse install is it possible to generate free space during setup or i need to prepare my partitions before ?

Hahahahahaha i know.. thats so true... but thats cuz its the easiest... and he didnt want the team NOT to install the vmware n stuff.. so he did what he had to...
buuuuuuuut now that youre used to it You can use open suse

Im not sure if it has the auto updates or not... its the kernals though that you gotta learn next

Well Im updating Ubuntu 6.10 to 7.04 right now. I am then going to try a dual boot with Ubuntu and Suse and see what happens.

As you probably found out USM you can update Ubuntu, I have run SuSe an I was alittle put of by a few things, Ubuntu has been much easier to work with, but I have not tried the most recent version. I do have it on my laptops hard drive, the iso. I will have to log back into windows to transfer it, or learn linux networking, an burn it to dvd one of these days.

Yeh I downloaded Suse 10.2x64 to my 32-bit Windows rig. At the time I started the download I was running Windows x64 and VMware on my other rig. So I was just going to put the ISO in the shared folder and copy it to my Win x64 rig. I may have to download it again because I have not learned to network Linux and Windows. I checked into it once and it looked aweful hairy! :crazy:

Its not as easy as ubuntu.. thats why viper started the old team on it BUT... for folding.. its a lot better
I cant wait till you get to compiling kernals...lol

Installed easy for me christo. I updated from Ubuntu 6.10, then did a fresh install. Should have left it alone it was nicer as an update.

FYI ... suse does do automatic updates
