what a load of shite. just wasted 20 minutes trying to get a "gmail" account. after entering vast combos of characters for a pass, nothing goes through. is there a "secrete" to doing this? reason is, is that our isp is changing, and until they cough up a new addy for me, i might have to go al la cart in terms of email...

you may have to enable java

"JavaScript and cookies must be enabled on all browsers"

once you sign up, then you can disable java and get your e-mail HTML

yes it works on vista and FF i think i did install java.

check and see if your popup blocker is stopping a popup for registration. you can pick out any password you want, gmail just "suggests" you use a strong password

thanks dave, but i tried that also. i didn't see any evidence of popups or blocking by the browser. called comcast, and redid my pop stuff. weird, as they didn't notify when the change would take place...i'll try using IE, and give the gmail another go.

Gmail doesn't require Java or Javascript. The "enhanced" version uses Javascript, but there's also a fallback HTML version.

Try signing in with the username and password you tried to register with. I bet it'll work. Otherwise, disable any Firefox extensions (like Noscript) and try registering again.
