Vista just got a bad rap because:

He says, "many of Vista's teething problems were because the operating system was a "game-changer in the sense that for Vista we had to make some fundamental architectural changes".
With those already in place, the transition to Windows 7 should be seamless, he says.

Although it was released in test form, Windows 7 is said to be "'feature complete" so triallists will be experiencing all the new system has to offer (cite:http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,24970767-8362,00.html).

I have never had any problems with Vista, except the initial 'teething' stages with 'driver' recognition etc, but that had to do more with 'third parties' playing 'catch-up.' As stated above, all the hardwork (behind the scenes stage hands etc) has been done with Vista; now the 'Rock Star' (Windows 7) can perform to an applauding audience.

That can not be true, for the simple reason, Vista allowed XP drivers, therefor, a lot of drivers, I can name you at least 6 if you want, never actually ported to Vista, they just simulated.

Vista is crap. I am running XP, Vista and 7, and out of those, 7 rocks, XP is good, Vista is bad. I'm not new at trying, I know what to look for.

I guess, you just haven't had either OS really at the long horns

Um, i tend to agree with muzzpat. Although you may feel and want W7 to be a completely new OS, its really not. It was built on server 2008, which is Vista. Sure there are some goodies added, but like server, W7 boots and runs faster because of the way it handles services, only loaded when called upon. As for XP drivers in Vista, i have never had any luck in getting them to install.

I'm not saying it's a completely new OS, I'm saying, it's soo very much of an improvement on Vista

as for xp drivers , I know for a fact that my creative webcam drivers for xp64 installed fine in veesta(pos) and also in win7 64

Even Vista drivers tend not to work under Vista...
