 i hope you don't regret saying that...

:yahoo: thanks to your wonderful gear tips, i have found the camera body (xti: 10.1mp) for a steal, along with another super price on the 18-55 IS (man, after checking out your flickr stuff, i am super stoked!). i just installed the photomatixs app (in x64bit server'08, no less!), and the canon RAW codec, and am now just double checking prices before ordering... :g:

oh, and for everyone to check out your cool stuff:

Finally got some time today to screw around with the Canon A570IS I bought a couple weeks ago. I installed CHDK, which is unbelievably cool, and took a shot off my deck at 5 autobracketed exposures. I then processed the RAW images in Photomatix.

I don't know what the hell I'm doing, but I thought my first HDR image came out pretty well. (Pay no attention to the watermarks.)

Yeah, that's what I was going for. I've seen some that are way overdone.

I'm going to Washington, D.C. in June, so I'm trying to learn as much about photography as I can before then. I didn't even know what EV meant until today, so I've got a lot to read...

I love my cheapo Canon. With CHDK, it's like a $1000+ camera. I can do autobracketing, RAW, up to 1/64,000 s shutter speed, motion detection... it even has games and a text editor on it. :g:

That's the best thing, you can't brick it. You put it on the SD card and it gets loaded into memory when you turn the camera on. It doesn't overwrite the original firmware.

BTW, here are some examples of the ultra high shutter speed. And the flash is synced with it, which is amazing.

And I thought my old Nikons with 1/1000 and 1/2000 was fast. 1/60,000 is insane. Thanks brewin, that is neat...talker. :g:
