For those who run Linux (not VMware style) on their desktop systems. what's your poison?

I've tried a few. I really like Suse but it can be a bit of a pain at times. I always (when I use Linux) end up using Ubuntu. Love the way it feels and looks.

dave, as an aside, what types of drives do you install ubuntu on? and your sound card: are you using onboard, or the creative you had?

Gentoo. I like the level of control it gives me, but I would never recommend it to anyone. You have to like the command line interface and enjoy fixing things when they break. For those who don't like such things, Ubuntu, Fedora, and OpenSUSE are all very good from my experience. I've also heard good things about PCLinuxOS and Mandriva.

Tried Fedora a few years back. Thought it very annoying and haven't bothered with it since.

well, i finally managed to get ubuntu 7.10 working: i installed 7.4 and did an upgrade. took hours. i was going to vote ubuntu, but it failed horribly. so much for the ubuntu girls. i'll miss them...

Well, judging from that picture, it looks like you might need a pretty big package to handle that cluster
