Ah guys... I couldn't resist.
So, let's clarify something:

Windows Vista SP1 = Windows Server 2008 (both are build 6.0.6001).
Windows Server 2008 even entitles itself like "Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 1"

Windows Vista SP1 will be 6.0.6002

Windows 7 is 6.1 because as Microsoft mentioned if there would be 7.0 many programs could generated many incompatibilities if they would found the major build no. of Windows like "7" and so for comatibility reasons it sets to "6.1"

and yes Windows Vista is a great OS and yes again, Windows 7 is indeed Windows Vista R2, rebranded for those who have psihical problems and compares Windows XP with it. Come one guys... on todays computers Windows XP is a shame. It's an old OS. On my machine which is an Q9450 /w 8 GB of ram XP runs as crap, not stable and buggy, seriously despite of Vista x64 working like a charm. For those of you still runing XP on mother machines... go and run Windows 2000 or why not Windows 98 cause it eats a little memory and stuff...
I'll type slowly, so you can read it more easily:
7 might me "6.1" (It will most probably end up being 6.x)
But still, it outrules Vista bigtime. Why? Vista didn't live up to its promises
Vista lacked support at release
Vista was a users nightmare thanks to the "you really, really, really want this?" feature.
7 Is the solution, namely, a more stable OS (even now in beta), with problems solved that were just those things that bugged the users.
For a change, I gotta say... It looks like MS has been listening to its user.
:withstupid: (I still am a Linux boy)

LoL for goodnes sake people, windows 7 has major reasons why you should upgrade to it. All the reasons are in just one catagory however, Its Vista's shortcommings in the very important area of Graphics and GDI systems that have always pissed me off and Windows 7 has all those issues fixed, as soon as the RC came out i got it.

Read this.

Its the one of two reason to go windows 7 apart form the nice GUI changes.

The other reason is thanks to the above reason nvidia has been able to write better drivers, i got 20 FPS more in GTA4 and double the FPS in Mirrors Edge, I have a GTX295. Im talking big numbers here guys.

X64 is still tops in my book for 'doze. Tried the RC of 7 and wasn't that impressed. Pretty, yeah; improvement over Vista, yeah; speed and gui improvements, yeah. Most importantly, imho, Redmond finally tries to catch up with what the *nix distros have had for years.

Said it before, I'll say it again---if it wasn't for gaming and DirectX I prolly wouldn't even run Windows. And before I get flamed Apple can s**k the big one too. Day in, day out, enthusiasts that don't game have a whole universe available with *nix that Ballmer can't even begin to comprehend let alone implement in his company's junkfood.

Sorry for the rant, a bit emotional tonight. :P
