Applied carefully, High Dynamic Range-technique (HDR) can create incredibly beautiful pictures which blur our sense of the difference between reality and illusion. In graphics HDR imaging is a set of techniques that allow a far greater dynamic range of exposures than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes, ranging from direct sunlight to the deepest shadows. This is usually achieved by modifying photos with image processing software for tone-mapping. And the results can be really incredible; in fact, many artists and designers come up with some pretty fancy results.

I've been interested in this for a while. I don't know if I can justify buying a new camera for it though. I wish I had money.

Looking nice... but, as for pretty pictures, try searching for "HD Amazing wallpapers" (I think the pirate bay has them as well)

Yeah For the 1st time I thought this is hard to make.. but actually it's not.

"Photomatix" solves


Basically you don't even need Photoshop to HDRize your images like it was advised from that HDR Guru Lol.


Check sFTP for "Photomatix Pro - v2; v3" ^^

How do you know if a camera is capable of producing shots like these? Do they advertise this "bracketing" or something?

good question. i dunno. might be a google moment for those with the $$$...i can see myself now, with tripod in hand...full beard, a black barrett properly positioned, with an assistant named dag...

Camera that has autobracketing. Autobracketing is the ability for your camera to take at least 3 pictures right after one another, each at different shutter speeds. If you are hunting around the menus on your camera now, just look for the words Autobracketing and perhaps some numbers like -2, 0, +2. If you have a DSLR camera, then you probably have this ability. I notice that some of the high-end consumer compact cameras have these as well. (source)

Times have somewhat changed. I remember standing in a small darkroom with chemicals, a developer, an enlarger, and roll upon roll of 35mm film. "Clothes lines" hung across the room to clip the negativess and wet prints for drying.
