Hey folks. I thought it might be a good idea to get a list of programs that are compatible/incompatible with Windows 7 64bit RC.

I just started installing my usual programs and found out that:

Incompatible:

Nero 6.6
Windows Live Sign-in Assistant -(not sure what the problem was, but I found Windows Live Mail and it works)
Nero 7 bug - Crashes Aero Glass if using a higher than normal DPI setting
Peer Guardian 2 x64 (There is a workaround for Peer Guardian RC here: http://www.sevenforums.com/software/2555-g...2-working.html)

Compatible:

AVG 8.5
Adobe reader 9.1
Atto disk bench
Auzentech drivers for audio
Battlefield Heroes
CCleaner v2.18.878
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
ConvertXToDVD 3.5.2+
CPUID
Creative X-Fi 2.18 0013
Crystal disk mark
DVDfab Platinum 5.2.2.0
Dataram ramdisk (it has to be installed under compatibility mode w/x64 win7)
Diskeeper 2009 pro-premier
Everest Home v2.2
Firefox 3.0.10
Flashplayer 10
flashfxp
GMail notifier
Guitar Pro 5
HD Tune Pro 3.50
IDM 5.5
Imgburn v2.4.4.0
Intel matrix storage manager
Kaspersky 2008 AntiVirus
Klite deluxe codec pak
Latest Java runtime
Listen's rhapsody
Logitech G-Series Key Profile/GamePanel Manager 3.01
Logitech Setpoint 4.7
Logitech Setpoint 5.10 (using the Vista 64bit driver - it throws up some kind of message but installs fine)
MS Office 2003-2007
Mbam
Microsoft Office 2003-2007
Nero 7(all vers)
O&O defrag 11 pro
Pdf-xchange (goes into the x64 program files by default)
Photoshop CS3 &CS4, CS3 extended
PowerDVD 7.3
Power DVD 9 ultra
Rivatuner
Skype 4+
Skype 4.0
Soundforge 8
SpeedFan
Spotify
Spybot Search & Destroy
SpywareBlaster 4+
SRWare Iron (can't make it default browser)
Steam
TweetDeck (although not properly docking, probably an Adobe Air error)
UT 3 & Titan pack
uTorrent
Vista Manager (yes, works for 7)
Visual Studio 2008 Pro
VLC Media Player
WinRAR 3.80 & 3.81
Winamp
Windows Live Mail - (worked fine, maybe I just tried the wrong version or program earlier)
Windows Live Messenger (Run in Vista compatibility to have it go away from taskbar!)
X64 vista nvidia gpu drivers

for x64 win7 7100 RC:
auzentech drivers for audio (they are bulletproof. just amazing)
dataram ramdisk (it has to be installed under compatibility mode w/x64 win7)
i'm using x64 vista nvidia gpu drivers, because they are newer, and don't have a penchant for crashing the box like the wddm 1.0 for win7.
pdf-xchange, an adobe reader replacement, which goes into the x64 program files by default
adobe cs3
intel matrix storage manager
listen's rhapsody
winamp
skype 4.0
rivatuner (thank god for rivatuner for nvidia based gpu)
crystal disk mark
atto disk bench
mbam...i think that's all i have on right now, besides FF and TB.

lol Mo. Is it that hard to put 'em into list format? I remember when I first found the planet and this place (by proxy) I was looking for lists of this sort when my daring ass decided to try some 64 bit goodness. How bout you edit my first post (and let's edit it here on out) to put the compatible/incompatible in their places...or at least make your own lists.

That run-on style (as much as I like it for other things) doesn't really lend itself to a nice and clear-cut format. :cc_surrender:

lmao @ you guys. I was hammered when I posted the other night MO, so it didn't occur to me to just edit my original post and make a master list. :cc_surrender:

It also didn't occur to me that this 64bit OS-related thread is smack dab in the middle of the "32 bit Forum". Would someone mind moving it to the 64 bit forum/Beta OS's/Windows 7 forum? I'm assuming the RC should be in the Beta section. TIA.

I'm starting to feel like this was a bit unnecessary. So far there's only 1 completely incompatible program...

Hey Storm. I installed Nero 7 today (v.7.10.1.0) and as soon as I started it it closed my Aero Glass down. Tried it again and it happened again.

Have you not ran across this problem?

:P @ Eni, nah nothing weird so far I'm using a Nero7 essentials OEM off of a fairly recent LG dvd driver disc ver 7.11.3.0 ,it actually lets aero work with it as the background in the nero window is transparent like aero ;)Attached File  Capture.JPG   80.3K   2 downloads
