If you try and install the really old alpha's prior to 4xxx you may get a message telling you it won't install...

why?

The timebomb! so just edit your CMOS clock to November 30th, 2002 and they'll install

Any other issues after that and its a corrupt ISO

Then you just simply hard reset your bios?

Remove CMOS jumper from the 1/2 position to 2/3 and reset

Then try booting without setting it back... now that's a fun thing to do

Well one trick you learn from building pc's is that to start the PC when you got no case is to either drop a jumper over the Power button socket or a screwdriver to short it instead

I then always just shortcut the wires myself. Every case I get, I strip the power switch cables a bit and put a working switch over them. that way, if the power button fails, I can still boot...

This is also handy when you tend to loose your powerbutton (don't ask!)
