ok, i have been wanting to install the pro version of win7 for some time, but after trying many googled methods, and all ending in some file or other missing and the like, i thought i'd try my own method. i used the usb tutorial from here.
the previous methods for getting the other versions of win7 to show up during install focused around the removal of a file called 'ei.cfg' which resides in the "sources" folder of your win7 iso. deleting this file (as was recommended) resulted in the os reporting that a key file was missing, and installation could not take place. what i did, after many hours of toil and dvd coasters was to access my freshly minted bootable usb flash drive install of win7 7127 x64, open the "sources" folder, and edit the ei.cfg using word pad:





now right click on the file, and select to open w/ word pad,
then change the word "Ultimate" to "Professional"

save the altered ei.cfg file, and boot from your usb drive. worked like a charm

after checking out the personalization options, i like the "afternoon" sound scheme. kinda neat

i decided to check out upgrading to the ultimate version. wow, really impressed at how fast it was (a few minutes ), and no ill effects (though i did end up with hiberfil.sys full again, so a quick pasting and running of "powercfg.exe -h off" slimmed my install back to acceptable size )

got another way is just delete that file & in time installation a menu will occure to select which version you want to install
