I think I might give it a try since I unsuccessfully tried to install Ubuntu 7.04 and Suse 10.2. This program here may be the solution to my problem.

Too curious, so decided to give a try right now.

Sadly i need to download Ubuntu again... i thought Wubi would ask me for the DVD or ISO... but its an alteranate image... but no prob.

I couldnt see any performance diference between Wubi install and the regular install. Thats very easy to install... Wubi asks for an user login and password, destination folder and the distro you want to download (Ubuntu, Kubuntu or Xubuntu)... Wubi adds an entry to Windows boot loader and than you have a classical and safe multi-boot. You can even install it to a system that alreday has other linux distro, grub will still be the primary loader and windows boot loader will show the Wubi entry.

It creates 2 files on the base OS boot drive: wubildr.mbr and wubildr.

my install folder bellow:

To uninstall go to control panel and remove it like any other app.

Thank you, what machine did you install this on in your sig. Is it using both cores? (Sorry for so many questions) OS 32 or 64?

Vista 32?

The reason i ask is i have 3 flavors of base OS's i could try it on. Vista 32, XP64 or XP32. My ultimate goal is to try the SMP Client on it for folding

No, i mean that "Wubi Ubuntu" is avaiable in 32-bit flavor only. My Vista is 64-bit.

Where do i start....

I have never run Linux I know nothing about it, not even how to take screenies or even how to save them, I was looking for a program i could try it out without ruining my other OS's or boot sectors. I have found it in Wubi.

This program ROCKS!!!

Just installed minutes ago, with absolutely NO GLITCHES, I have installed Kubuntu. I dont even know how it installed, i did nothing!! maybe 3 clicks of the mouse. Here are some screenies, please excuse the camera, i will get better in Kubuntu, but im soo excited

I remember BeOS let you install it in a file on Windows just like this. RIP BeOS.

I liked so much that i am thinking of making Wubi my standard for linux... but Suse will be kept...
