Microsoft put in a power button, but all Vista does is go to sleep. Want to change that? Follow these simple steps:
Go to Control Panel, Power Options
Click Change Power Plan Settings for your selected plan (mine is High Performance)
Click "Change Advanced Power Settings"
Expand Power buttons and lid
Expand Start Menu power button. Select Shutdown, Apply changes
Now your shutdown button turns off your computer! (First Shutdown will take a while, but after that, it goes right into shutdown)

Good tip!
I was one of those who tried to shut it down that way the first time-
I thought it was ridiculous to have a "power" button that didn't turn off the power-
I didn't know there was a way to change it till now-
THANKS
