yeah, the voltages look whacked out under speed fan. I feel ya. Anyone wanting me to look at a computer older than an athlon64 I think I'm going to give a one word diagnosis: "Upgrade!".

Well, checked the voltages again and they were very very off regardless of which PSU I used. So, I brought the guy over, showed him the temperature fluctuations, let him know that more than likely it was the motherboard, and told him it made more sense to upgrade than to try to fix it.

I then burned him copies of the stuff he wanted to save and sent 'em on his way. He ended up giving me a couple twenties for my trouble.

Whew. From now on, it's Athlon64 or later.
