HONG KONG (AFP) - Internet and phone services have been disrupted across much of Asia on Wednesday after an earthquake damaged undersea cables, leaving one of the world's most tech-savvy regions in a virtual blackout.
From frustrated traders seeking in vain for stock quotes to anxious newshounds accustomed to round-the-clock updates on world events, millions of people from China to Japan to Australia were affected.
The disruption was widespread, hitting China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and elsewhere, with knock-on effects as far away as Australia for companies whose Internet is routed through affected areas.

I had a customer in today saying the net was very slow. I said where is the site. He said China. I told him about the quake and he shouted:
"Bull***t!. Your net is f**king **** and you're blaming a f**king earthquake over the other side of the f**king world. What the f**k do you take me for?"
So I asked if I could show him on the net and showed him the article.
He said "Oh. Ok" and starts walking back to the PC.
I said "Excuse me a second please"
"Yeah?"
"Grab your s**t and get the f**k out of my shop NOW you ignorant p**ck"
He actually looked surprised LOL
Anyways, yeah, it is bad news. They should have it fixed soon enough though I hear.
