:D I am happy to say that I am finally running a Linux distro again. Granted, it is 32 bit, but I am still happy. I found out about Dell's Ubuntu 8.10 and I decided to give it a shot. My biggest problem was that I could never get my wireless cards to work, thus I never went forward with Linux. Now I am running it as the only OS on my Dell 1420 lappy (yes yes, I have a VM of XP in it just in case). Sound is great (but for some reason the 2nd headphone jack isn't live), video is great (nVidia v. 180) and I couldn't be happier. At first the wireless nic wasn't seeing networks, but after some updates, it sees them just fine. The wireless networks that I have connected to have been WPA so I can't say anything about WEP or non-secure yet.

I guess time will tell if I will be keeping this installed as a permanent OS.
