i love my dell u2410...but just noticed i can pick up a 27" ips 2560 x 1440 panel from korea, via ebay, with all the bells and whistles (not just dvi-d), for much less than i would pay for a 27" dell/apple ips display, and am seeing even places like micro center carrying what looks to be a real bargain (27" hdcp ips 2560 x 1440 @ $399). i'm stoked! which to get? i know from checking out many popular gear sites that the panels in these are pretty much the same, and it mostly comes down to looks and the seller you chose to do business with, though there appear to be some updated specs. i'm really tempted going with this unit (i'd use a vesa replacement stand):

http://www.microcent...IPS_LED_Monitor

...but also like the looks of this one:

http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1436.l2649
(can be OC'ed to 120hz, not sure if that would really make a difference, considering the panel type...but it has a 10 bit LUT!)

while you can get a glass face dvi-d only 2560 x 1440 for $329 or even less, i watch 'protected' content on my rig, so i would need the hdcp capability the previously mentioned monitors possess...

ideas?

will do ;)
i already have a big tv, but i wanted a bigger than i have atm ips panel that does the high high rez. the first one is a safer bet because it would ship from so cal,and if i had any issues, i could return it, but that other monitor with the 10bit...i guess i would never really use it...

i'm really looking at the ebay choice atm. maybe better osd and higher lut on it? i wouldn't have to replace the stand, and it's better looking, by my reckoning...

Yes. Buy another one or two, for a multi-monitor setup ;)

on a side note, i was getting ready to to toss my asus proart ips moniotor out. the dell replaced it because the asus has developed a pink vertical line. for giggles, i took the asus apart, and applied quite a bit of pressure on the bare screen where the line was. fired it up...no pink line lol!
yeah, sending back to korea would be pricy...it's just the 10bit lut i was wanting...meh, safer bet is the one from micro center.

the one from micro center is the likely candidate. after checking out reviews, they seem to be a 'safer' bet, now to save up pennies....

i dunno, the korean monitors are going up in price, and the ones from micro center sound like they are still hit and miss re quality and actual reliability. i might just go the refurb dell route again with a u2711, like i did with my u2410. i would like the non AG screens, i believe. maybe one of these, if they become available, as it looks like they have higher grade panels in them compared to the korean ebay offerings:

http://www.amazon.co...ords=Nixeus+Vue

new, the dell is like $800, with heavy AG. i think this nixeus will be the one, if they are still available (because of the popularity of the panels, there is a very high demand for just about any grade of them, especially the 'A' rated ones, that it looks to be a shortage from LG, so prices are going up).
