i love the "glass" transparency around windows in vista, and wondered if there was a way to get "more" of it
(wider glass areas), so after a few adjustments, i now have "big" glass:
first, right click on your desktop, and select "personalize" from the menu:


then click on "window color and appearance":


then click "open classic appearance properties for more color options"



now, click on "advanced".

here, we get the classic options to change border sizes, etc.:


then choose the dropdown menu under "item":


and increase the amount in "size":

do the same for "border padding", and "inactive window border" if you like.

the glass looks a bit wider now:


you may want to experiment, as you can get too carried away, and end up limiting your menu choices in the title bar, such as in paint, etc., if the increase is too large.

Thanks Mo, that is pretty neat. I like Aero. Unfortunately, I like the interface but I am not in love with the OS that contains it as of yet. Right now my Vista realtionship is more love/hate. Perhaps as I play with it more is will grow on my but then again, so does moss and fungus...talker.

Talker, what versions of Vista have you tried? 5744 is about as good as it gets, and it is very good! If i were you, id give it a try

"Pane in the glass"...did you really say that? I don't really believe you did.

I have 5744 x64 and have tried all the others. I guess it is just me. So far I just don't like it. It is one of those funny gut feelings that I have about the OS. I'm not sure what it is but there seems to be something that just isn't right about the whole thing. I have learned the hard way about that gut feeling about things. I know that sounds crazy but there is something about the OS that is hidden. I know it is there but I don't know what it is. Like I said, it sounds crazy but it is not the first time I have been called nuts...talker.

i agree. that's why i use it, chris. i didn't think it was a typo at first. that's what i meant when i replied that that has been an issue throughout the history of humankind...i love it

Yeah, it really is somewhat deep. Take ghosts/spirits for instance. Some see them, some don't. Those that don't believe they exist will never see them. Should they start to believe, they will see them. Perhaps a poor analogy but you should get the idea anyway...talker. :smoke:
