Server is both stable and crammed with handy tools, maybe not the ones you think you need, but imagine a Roaming profile at home, easier to access file shares, and one back-up of all your work.
Setting up a domain isn't too difficult and there are plenty of guides on the internet or even ebooks about it.
I recommend anyone wanting to further their computing knowledge does this or at least reads up on it!
