i really have to applaud the linux community for the viable free OS alternatives. i can see myself getting "happy feet", if i can just find that "special" distro, though in situations which charlie described, many can and do succeed in fitting the bill...

SabayonLinux 3.25 has been released, now with the latest X.Org 7.2, the new Kernel Virtual Machine, Beryl 0.1.4 and other enhancements. Haven't tried it yet, but I will soon. Just thought they might have fixed some of the problems you encountered with the last version. Though for everything to work perfectly, it definitely needs a hard drive install.

well, i tried the hd install (older release), and i removed it within 15 minutes. no audio or cool gui effects that ran in the live cd (they do mention that the install will be lacking some things the live cd has ), but the live cd had my interest enough to try this latest release. thanks for posting the link brew

EDIT: the earlier version was a dinky little thing compared to the one you linked to! i bet this will have the goods...it should @ 3.34 gigs!

Fluxbox is very light and fast and KDE is big and loaded with features. I think the Sabayon LiveDVD comes with both, along with Gnome, Xfce, and e17. So you should be able to easily try them all out just by choosing a different session at the login screen.
