A good tool to manage RAM disks.

You can install a complete OS in a ultra fast virtual disk and can save your disk image to physical disk for restoring it later. Works fine with WinXP / Vista / Win7 (x86 / x64). I will install Lucid Linx and XP this way to see how they perform.

Yes MO, i found some but liked more this one that's free up to 4GB.

that's the one! i use it. i do all my browser downloads/photoshop temp and scratch in it. i don't save the results, which brings me to the question: i don't think you can install an os on it, even if you save it, can you? maybe a vm, but an actual xp/linux "install"? you can't boot to it, though linux does have that option for ubuntu and it's family...i forgot the name of it. dave put it up a long time ago. i can't remember what it was called, but you could boot ubuntu from a file on the c drive ( a partition/file. kinda cool)..ube? woobe? i forgot...

Yes, you're right MO and that's what I mean.

I copied the VM files to the ramdrive. Wow man, it's amazingly fast!





Imagine somthing as fast as this being the standard for future hard drives.

You're talking about Wubi... but it wouldn't work in this case 'cos Wubi loader needs the partition image at boot time.

The only way to have an OS on a ramdrive is by using VMs. I created a 3GB ramdisk for XP and configured the utility to automatically save the disk image to my storage volume before shutdown, then I can load the disk in seconds when I need it.
