just about any commercial, meaning meant for production use, uses a stricter standard of fail rate, thats why they cost more as well. And what that translates to in terms of overclockability is they can handle more they are only sold at a lower level for complete an total stability. They also have 1mb L2 per core verses the 512k of the other cpu's.

Hey nice, I too was wondering what exactly was making opterons especially good. That 175 for 225$ seems like a nice deal, I'd go for it if I were you. Depending on your budget of course.

i mean i dont have a small budget per say, but I would not want to spend that much. i just lost my job (over something that was quite silly in my opinion), hopefully i can get one for the summer, but I think 225 is too much. i was looking for below 150.

Over on my car forum one of the mods has an Opteron 165 and some other items for sale, I could check the cost and get his email for you, it's safe to buy from him, he has been there for a long time and a mod for some time now also, just let me know.
