, think I'd get away with the Corsair in 850 version or lower?, bearing in mind that I'm only welding an i7 to its socket?

prolly the tdp on the Ci7 is 125 watts I think ,that only takes 10 amps

chek this Rik.....corsair 750..solid 60 amps on 1 big rail ;)80% efficiency, active pfc, short circuit protection and they are real quiet

Damn, back in the day when I started building my computers (some 4-5 years ago) 28amps rails were the best out there... PSU's are so overpower and overpriced now, this one fact makes me not-want to build again :s Mainly cause you don't actually notice the benefits of a better PSU (VS other components) it hurts to spend so much on a brick.

I know what your saying hog, yup, but when clocking, a decent amount of power matters. Many times I have failed due to scrimping on the PSU It does seem your getting nothing for nothing though

The Corsair is a nice choice, I owned one and sold it but really liked it for the short time I had it, same model you linked to, 1K model, felt/looked to be very high quality and has been powering a system that's higher end without issue. (Only sold it cause I had planned to build two pcs and changed my mind and was selling of what parts I had gotten)

Gonna grab the Corsair I think, not the 1000W one as that's overkill for what I need, I'll never be running SLI or Crossfire either

Hmmm, I have the CoolerMaster, and I especially like the add-on they have, a power-usage meter, it's nice
