The company that made the Start menu, that pushed the Desktop further than we thought possible is making a lot of changes.
Changes in how the Office Suite look to make it accessible will they hope make them a better alternative 'again' over Star Office and Open Office e.t.c and plus new features.
Their OS includes many GUI enchancements and again they do want to add new features, since they are integrated we hope they don't eat as much memory as seperate alternatives.
MSN and MSN Hotmail are changing...
Is this to put themselves in front?

Of course it's to put themselves in front, why would you advance if it's only going to put you behind?

Microsoft has always been innovative, sometimes a little ahead of their time. Google i think is making Micrtosoft push themselves to the limit which is a good thing. Time will tell

i feel that they have not really made THAT big of leaps when it comes to technology. Most operating systems they have build have been based on the one before it - they havnt really done anything (ex. cosmetic changes) HUGE that really wows ya, you know....

Im looking at some of their snap-ins or plug-ins for server, Windows Update, Live programs, Xbox, Blue Tooth, Mice, Keyboards and the big push to get hardware manufacturers to make hardware compatible with x64bit OS's

Yeah, lots of people are critical of Microsoft, but I like what ive seen of Vista, and the new Office. They have been doing this for a long time now, so Im sure they know what they are doing.
